The quilt top is done! After letting the blocks sit on my floor for more than a week, I finally got them pieced together and ready for basting.
I really wasn’t sure if I would like this quilt when it finally came together. I learned (again) that I’m not very good at the block of the month thing. I fall behind and then catch up all at once, then finish late. The weekly quilt alongs I do fine with, but the monthly ones don’t work well for me. And after sitting for a year, you never know if you’ll like it.
I really wanted to frame these blocks in a bright color, but every time I set one out I hated it. In the end I chose a soft gray and it worked perfectly, especially with the colored posts between the sashing strips. I used the last of my orange polka dot for the outer border.
Do I like it? YES! So much more than I thought I would. In fact, I keep looking at it, surprised at how pretty it is. Next up I need a backing, and I think I might hand quilt this one.
Thanks for visiting!

Really lovely work. I am also struggling with BOM lag. I have not done them before and this year signed up for a couple. I have only made 1 blocks so far. Really really slack. Your finished quilt has inspired me though, it is worth persevering if you end up with a great quilt like this.
This is so pretty. I have never done a block of the month but I’ve been thinking about it more lately. I tend to get behind even in quilt alongs so not sure I would be able to keep up.
I love your quilt – really unusual colours together but it really works! Congratulations on getting it this stage!
