Acorn Wreath

I fully intended to post this before Thanksgiving, before everyone was decorating for Christmas.  I was busy enjoying our Thanksgiving break and so here it is; belated.

Several months back we went on an acorn gathering outing with my family.  I had learned in the past that you have to wash and bake acorns in order to make sure they are clean and free of pests.  I baked them for 3 hours at 200 degrees.  Then they sat in a zip lock bag on my counter for six weeks next to the glue gun.

I brushed a few of the acorns with paint just to mix things up a little bit.  Then I began hot gluing them onto a wreath form.  I love how it turned out and I’m glad I stuck with it and finally finished it.  My daughter updated it for me for Christmas by adding some fresh pine branches behind it and it looks great.

So cute! I’ve been wanting to make one of these but haven’t taken any steps to do it. I love that you added paint to some of them.
