I posted over here about my goals for 2012, my number one goal being to seek and experience JOY in 2012. I will admit that in the past 24 hours I have been a miserable failure in this endeavor, so making this little notebook today was probably a healthy thing.
One of my specific “joy” goals is to find and display good quotes for our family to memorize this year. I think I’ll collect those quotes in this little book. I’m still in love with the combination of red, aqua and white. It lifts my heart.
My favorite detail on this project is the itty bitty vintage rick rack that I weaved through some holes on the doily. Seriously, it is so small, smaller than any rick rack I’ve found in stores. It was the perfect color and size for the small holes. I added ribbon to the binding because I wasn’t satisfied with how the raw edge of the doily looked.
Now it sits above my computer desk, a reminder that I’ve promised myself to fill it and that I need to open my heart to whatever joy God is willing to send my way, even if it’s not in the way I’m praying for. Sometimes it takes courage to feel joy on different terms. I’m trying to find that courage.
