Making homemade ice cream is an essential part of summer. Growing up, I remember summer nights sitting on the back deck and hearing the hum of the ice cream maker, anxiously awaiting until it was done. It was always delicious- whether it was plain vanilla or filled with fresh fruit.
When we got married, my husband and I registered for an ice cream maker too. Since then, we have always pulled it out in the summer time to continue those fond memories.
We tried several new recipes last summer and this one was our favorite of the bunch. It is the fluffiest ice cream I have ever had and the fresh berries taste delicious. If you smash the berries up more, it turns out purple, I just didn’t smash them as much this time. It’s the perfect summertime treat.
