Flag pillow

I’ve had this pillow in my mind for the last few months and finally got around to making it today.  It’s not as cute as I pictured it, but still a fun addition to my house this holiday.

I used all scraps that I already had so it was a free project too- which is good!

I started with an old t-shirt.

This was a quick project and I didn’t even unpick the sides of the shirt. I also measured nothing for this project.  I cut a few strips, about 2 inches wide and sewed with a wide stitch length down the middle.

Then I ruffled each strip. (pull on the bottom thread to ruffle the fabric).

And cut a star out of some white cotton jersey. You can use an old t-shirt.

Then I laid it out on my blue shirt and pinned it down, making sure to not pin through both sides.

I sewed a zig zag stich around my star and down the center of each ruffle. Then I sewed one of the sides right sides together and turned it inside out. You can add a zipper or stuff the pillow and sew the other side closed.

Happy Independence Day!
