Lamp makeover

Since we moved into our current home I’ve changed a lot of the colors I was using before.  This left me with quite a few accessories that don’t match, yet I don’t have the cash to just go out and purchase new.  So here is how I took these red lamps and made them to match my new colors:

I began by painting the bases with Gripper.  This stuff is amazing – if you use it they claim it will allow you to paint almost any surface.  So far my experience has been the claim is correct.  I am a fan.

After the Gripper I then applied my chosen paint color.

For the lamp shades I pulled off the red ribbon and added my own design using trusty old masking tape.

Then I painted the shades as well, using a very pale pink from restoration hardware (I went to an outlet sale not long ago and the small paint cans were 50 cents).  I’m loving pink lately.  So unlike me, really.

Finished!  Are they perfect?  No.  Am I happy with them?  Absolutely.  They provide me with light, matching colors and not spending a cent.

Happy Projecting!

Emily
