After landscaping our yard last fall, I now have flowerbeds for the first time in five years. My tulips have been gorgeous but they won’t bloom all summer. My current project is to add shrubs and more flowers so we’ll have color all season.
Step one was purchasing some spring bulbs. They arrived today and I happily went to work planting them.
This is my first experiment with dahlia tubers. I’ll have to dig them up in the fall.
I’m also adding gladiolus (top left), liatris (top right) and ranunculus (bottom middle). Ranunculus are my favorite flower. I’ll have to dig them up in the fall, as well, since they won’t survive winter in my region.
An hour’s work, and my dirt looks the same, but there are treasures in there. I’m anxious to see them come summer. Now for some boxwood. Let the work begin!
