I felt like trying something new yesterday and my brown leather couches in our family room have been looking very dull. I love the look of pretty throw pillows, but I quit using them in this room a year or so ago because I was tired of picking them up off the floor.
After reading this post, I decided to try a long pillow on our couch and see if it works. I had some outdoor fabric in a stripe that works well with the colors in the room so I cut it, added a zipper, and ta-da!
The entire pillow is close to 48 inches long and about 13 inches tall. It’s a fun change of pace and I like having some color and pattern in all that brown.
I made a second, 20 inch square pillow in a floral pattern for use on the love seat. I think I can probably handle picking up two pillows.
It should be a fun experiment to see how a long pillow like this holds up to the punishment eight children will surely give it. I’m curious to see if it’s a good decorating move or if I quietly remove it in a week or two.
For now, I like the look of it.
What do you think?
